The MSG is deployed similar to a gateway router in the network. Being multi-function, the MSG is able to act both as the network gateway as well as the user/policy management system. The browser managed MSG includes an on-board database that allows creation of users, network profiles, QoS policies, session quotas, content filters, firewall rules & several other important functions.
Although not required, the MSG can also interface with other IT systems such as LDAP & RADIUS.
