Leading OSS/BSS provider Inventum has been chosen by Spectranet and Aircel to power the national build-out of their joint Public WiFi services.
The much advertised Aircel WiFi service aims to offer a high speed alternative to traditional 2/3G mobile data. With the explosive growth in smart phones, tablet computers and laptop computers, the demand for WiFi has grown exponentially. Aircel is working with several partner networks in enabling a ubiquitous service experience including roaming on partner networks.
Inventum powers Aircel and its partner networks to seamlessly allow Aircel mobile subscribers to use WiFi services at hotspots across the country. The service access is enabled using both traditional logon pages as well as SIM card based access.
Speaking on the development, Anil Walia, Head South Asia Sales of Inventum said “this is truly the next wave in mobile and WiFi convergence. We are pleased to be associated with this effort.”
The services have been enabled for some time and can be accessed in popular public locations such as Delhi International Airport Terminal 3 (T3), major malls such as Select City Walk, Saket and thousands of other locations.
Spectranet has deployed Wi-Fi network at over 1000 hot-spots across six metros Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chennai and Hyderabad. Over the next five years Spectranet plans to invest Rs. 500 Crore to expand its services across 50,000 hot spots and over 5 million households. The technology platform for Spectranet’s massive network deployment has been powered by the leading OSS / BSS Company, Inventum Technologies, which is also behind several other leading deployments. The Inventum Service Management Platform provides seamless authentication solution for both post-paid and pre-paid Aircel subscribers and enable seamless Internet access across Aircel GSM/3G network and Spectranet Wi-Fi network.
